The Professor's Response

Good Afternoon professor... I also have another question... in Wilsons adjustment for estimating p.. the formula of P: x+2/n+4... what does x stand for? what value is it?

Thank you very much,

Adriana

Professor McGukian

Hi Adriana,

The x is the same as it is in the typical proportion interval problems. The x represents the number of subjects or items exhibiting the trait you are interested in. For example, in a survey of people trying to determine the percent of the population with blue eyes, the x represents the number of subjects with blue eyes.
